The KirkThe wealth of history within the Irvine Valley is famous throughout the world yet its heritage is constantly under threat and in need of protection.  No less threat is that of Loudoun Kirk which has fallen victim to time and vandals.  The Friends of Loudoun Kirk is a newly formed charity whose main purpose is to raise funds for the preservation and security of the Kirk and Kirkyard.

Social events are held throughout the year, although not all work is fund raising, there is also research into various historical aspects of the Kirk, such as the source of roofing slate.  The Ayrshire Rose first developed at Loudoun Castle, who's got one? - and much more.

Already over 2000 thorny shrubs have been as a deterrent to vandals.   A new solid oak door has been fitted.  The gates have been painted and tombstones repaired.  A commemorative plaque has been gifted by the Belgian S.A.S. Paratroopers who trained at Loudoun Castle during the war.
